La importante acreditación del Doctorado UTEM en Ciencias de Materiales e Ingeniería de Procesos

Iniciado en marzo de 2020, el Doctorado en Ciencias de Materiales e Ingeniería de Procesos se encuentra directamente asociado al carácter tecnológico que describe a la UTEM y a las recientes definiciones que otorgan un carácter estratégico a la docencia de postgrado y a las actividades de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación (I+D+i), junto con marcar un compromiso institucional con el entorno y una clave proyección internacional.

Por todo ello, la reciente noticia de que el programa ha sido acreditado por tres años por la Comisión Nacional de Acreditación (CNA) es motivo de alegría y orgullo. Tras un riguroso proceso, el doctorado tuvo una evaluación positiva por parte del ente evaluador, comenzando su periodo desde el 1 de diciembre de 2022.

El programa cuenta con tres líneas de investigación: Computación de alto rendimiento para el análisis de materiales con proyección tecnológica; Síntesis, caracterización y aplicación de materiales; y Aplicación de materiales para el desarrollo ingenieril de procesos.

Se trata de un doctorado que forma a expertas y expertos capaces de realizar proyectos de investigación de excelencia en forma autónoma y creativa, como parte de equipos interdisciplinarios. Fue acreditado por el plazo máximo para doctorados en verde.

Indiscutible logro

Para la rectora Marisol Durán Santis se trata “de un paso histórico en el camino a la complejización que nuestro Gobierno Universitario ha delineado como un objetivo estratégico principal”.

Se trata del primer doctorado de la universidad en recibir la acreditación, por lo que se constituye en una propuesta académica que pretende ser una contribución a la oferta doctoral del país. Y, por supuesto, implica un positivo inicio para la acreditación para otros programas a este nivel académico de la UTEM.

Ana Montero, directora de la Escuela de Postgrado, indica que la acreditación muestra “un programa sólido, que cuenta con investigadores activos que se complementan para dar líneas de investigación que sustentan un programa atractivo para los estudiantes”.

Al logro alcanzado, se suma otro: la obtención de un apoyo por parte del Concurso de Fortalecimiento de Programas de Doctorado que impulsa la Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo (Anid), dependiente del ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología, Conocimiento e Innovación. El programa UTEM forma parte de los elegidos en la convocatoria 2022.

Con un claustro de académicos de excelencia y el mejor apoyo curricular, “hemos tenido estudiantes interesados desde la primera versión, por lo que se decidió presentar el programa a la CNA para ser acreditado aún sin tener graduados”, recuerda Montero.

La rectora Santis Durán felicitó a la vicerrectoría de Investigación y Postgrado, a la Escuela de Posgrado, a la Dirección de Aseguramiento de la Calidad de la Vicerrectoría Académica, a la directora del Doctorado Dra. Eglantina Benavente Espinosa, a todo el claustro, a las y los estudiantes y a las otras unidades académicas que han colaborado “en la materialización de este indiscutible logro”, enfatizó.
